Bonnie and Bill travel in a large truck sometimes. This blog will help us remember which hotels, restaurants, and truck stops we liked and which we hated.

Ramada Inn North - Houston
11/20/10 to 11/21/10
This is the Ramada Inn on I-45 in Houston. When we checked in, we were impressed with the helpful nature of the gentleman behind the desk. We asked for extra coffe, as we always do, and were told he would deliver it to our room shortly. And he did! The room was nice enough. Good bed and pillows. Limited channels on the television and no list of what channels were available. The restaurant was good. We ordered room service and the woman told me we could pick up our order in the bar if we'd like, thus saving the 17% surcharge for room service. So we did. The food was average - edible but nothing special. Breakfast is served only until 9:00. We did not eat there for breakfast.
Most importantly, there was some sort of convention or there the night we stayed. It was a fundraiser of some kind which was over around midnight. This gathering of 200 people got completely out of hand. There were crowds rushing back and forth in front our room, pounding on doors (including ours). There was fighting and yelling. Eventually, there was also gunfire. We were quite terrifed. We called the front desk. No answer. We were afraid to look out the window for fear of attracting the attention of the crowd. Silence finally descended around 2 am.
Upon checkout, we were told that the gathering had gotten out of hand and that's why no one answered the phone at the desk. The gunfire was the security guard shooting his gun into the air to try to disperse the crowd. No apologies from the desk clerk.
